How to register on SA Youth

    By TMP Team · Updated

    Quick answer

If you are 18 to 34, looking for work and have a South African or refugee ID number or a valid work permit, register free on sayouth.mobi. It takes a few minutes and the site is zero-rated on participating mobile networks. No smartphone? Call 0800 72 72 72 and a guide can register you.

    Ways to do this

Official channels only. We don't run any of them.

SA Youth (SAYouth.mobi) is part of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention. It connects young people with jobs, internships, learnerships, apprenticeships, bursaries and skills programmes. Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator runs the site, with the Department of Employment and Labour and other partners. It is free.

    Who can join

SA Youth says you can register if you:

    • are 18 to 34 years old,
    • are looking for work or learning, and
    • have a South African ID number (citizens, permanent residents and refugees) or a valid work permit.

    What you need

    • your ID number or work permit details, and
    • the postal code of where you live.

SA Youth says registration takes about four minutes.

    How to register

    1. Open sayouth.mobi on your phone and choose to join.
    2. Enter your details as the site asks. SA Youth may use your ID number as your username.
    3. Complete your profile, with your education and any work experience.
    4. Browse the opportunities and apply for the ones that fit you.

No smartphone? Call 0800 72 72 72 for free, and a guide can register you and help you apply. You can also use a computer at a library or youth centre.

    Data

The government says SAYouth.mobi is zero-rated on participating mobile networks, so browsing the site doesn’t use your data. SA Youth notes that a first visit may still use a little data, that some networks need you to have some data on your phone, and that any other website you open from it uses your data.

    How opportunities work

SA Youth doesn’t own the opportunities on its site. Opportunities from vetted partners carry a “Partner Opportunity” badge; others come from other job sites. Read each opportunity carefully before you apply. Registering doesn’t create any expectation of a job.

SA Youth’s messages to you start with #SAYouth.

    Need help?

Call 0800 72 72 72 or email support@sayouth.co.za. Register on ESSA too, so the Department of Employment and Labour can also match you to work.

    Stay safe

SA Youth is free. Nobody may charge you to register, apply or get an opportunity. If someone asks for money for a learnership or job, see our guide to legitimate learnerships and don’t pay.
