SRD approved but no payment date
By TMP Team · Updated
Quick answer
Approved means you passed that month's checks. If the pay day field is empty, SASSA hasn't processed a payment yet. Request a verification link on srd.sassa.gov.za and complete the facial check, and make sure your bank account is in your own name. Don't apply again or keep changing your details.

An approved SRD status means your application passed SASSA’s checks for the month shown. It doesn’t mean the money has been paid. SASSA’s own status list says: look at the pay day field, and if it has no value, no payment has been processed yet.
Check the month first. One month can have a pay day while another month is approved without one. Use the SRD status check to see each month. A month that is still pending hasn’t been approved yet.
Approval and payment are separate steps
Approval answers whether you qualify for that month. Payment needs more: your identity verified, a bank account in your own name that SASSA can pay into, and a payment run. SASSA has said that once you are verified, payment follows in the next pay run.
Nobody can promise a fixed number of days for this. Your verification and your bank account decide when you are paid, so a date another applicant got is not your date.
Step 1: Complete the facial check if SASSA asks
SASSA’s grant booklet says that if your status shows approved but not paid, you must request a verification link and complete the facial recognition check. Request the link on the SRD website, use good light and your own face, and don’t forward the link to anyone. If it fails, see what to do when identity verification fails.
Step 2: Check your banking details
SASSA pays into a bank account in your own name. It has said that payments to an account in someone else’s name won’t verify. Check that the account is open and that the account number and type are correct, using your banking app or a bank statement.
If your details are correct, leave them. SASSA has warned that changing banking details and contact numbers again and again delays payment. Only change them when something is wrong: see how to change SRD banking details.
Step 3: Check your cellphone number
SASSA uses your cellphone number to send verification links. If you lost the SIM or the number is no longer yours, see how to change your SRD cellphone number. Don’t apply a second time.
Step 4: Give it time, then contact SASSA
After you complete a step, check your status again later rather than refreshing all day. If nothing changes after a long time, or the website asks you to contact SASSA, call 0800 60 10 11.
Have these ready: the approved month, what your status says, the date you completed verification and the last four digits of your bank account. Never give anyone your PIN, password or a one-time PIN.
Don’t appeal an approved month
An appeal is for a declined month. If the month is approved, the problem is payment, not the decision, so follow the steps above. If another month was declined, you can appeal that month.
Payment scams
Scammers say an approved grant is “blocked” and ask for a release fee, your card details or a one-time PIN. SASSA doesn’t release payments for a fee and says it will never ask for your PIN. Report fraud on 0800 701 701.
